So, I’m Finally Calling Myself a Writer

I’ve written for years.

I’ve filled notebooks, started stories, abandoned stories, finished a book, rewritten things more times than I care to admit, and carried ideas around in my head for far too long.

And yet, for some reason, calling myself a writer has always felt a little strange.

Maybe because “writer” sounds like something other people get to call you after you’ve accomplished enough. After you’ve published enough books. After someone else decides your words are worth reading.

But I’m starting to think that’s not how it works.

Maybe you become a writer the moment you decide to keep writing.

So, here I am.

I’m finally calling myself a writer.

I’m still learning. I’m still figuring things out. I still have plenty of doubts, unfinished stories, and moments when I wonder if I’m doing any of this right.

But I’m writing.

And there are stories I’ve carried in my heart for years that I’m finally ready to let out.

So this is me, stepping into that part of my life a little more fully.

Writer.

It feels good to finally say it.
